Financial Accounting

The teachers are competent and the lectures are concise. The exams are difficult, but if you study past exams you have a good chance of passing.

We had a theoretical teacher and also practical classes. In the theoretical classes we went through the topics and solved some exercises, but then we had a more in depth analysis of exercises on the practical classes. Assessment was based on one midterm and an exam, both of them were very similar to what we did in class and to the previous midterms and exams. We had powerpoints in which we could better understand the theoretical part of the course and then workbooks with the exercises to practice. I suggest that you study regularly, given that the materials are dense.

Go to practical classes. it makes a huge difference in your overall understanding of the course.

Very practical course in terms that it’s possible to see the usefulness of the contents. Must keep the contents in check regularly so it doesn’t feel too overwhelming. Making the exercises is key but keep the theoretical up to date. Works like a game, once you start to get the hang of it you are good to go

This is probably the worst course in first year. You should start to study since day one! There will be a lot of new concepts and you should get to know them as soon as possible. The midterm and the exam are difficult if you only start to study a week before. It is very important to do the student handbook. The best way to learn by yourself is by studying by tiago silva’s powerpoint, he’s probably the best TA

Attend classes, especially practical classes. Review the slides and solve the exercises before exams. The concepts aren't super complicated to understand.

This is a course that depends on how you begin, if you get lost in the beginning it is going to be a hard course, if you go to the practical classes and understand and keep up with the classes it should be easier and if you are interested in it you will perform well. It is important that you have a good TA since the exercises are big and hard to understand. Repeat the exercises at home when studying and it shouldn’t be a problem.

It is important to listen to classes and understand this subject as you will need it to do management accounting. The tests are long so make sure you know things by heart, you have a lot of material to study

Although you need to do a lot of exercises, i really enjoyed it. The professor from the 1st semester is one of my favorites of all time, and that helped of course!

Gostei bastante desta cadeira, sobretudo pela forma como os conceitos foram apresentados com ligação prática à realidade, fornecendo uma base sólida para compreender a linguagem financeira das empresas e interpretar demonstrações financeiras.
