Great course, one of the best professors, very important course too

Projeto nada difícil, mas o exame pode ser um pouco. A matéria consiste em muita matemática, mas com algum estudo a lógica dos exercícios entra. A avaliação não é muito exigente, penso que a matéria em si, seja um pouco. As aulas teóricas ajudam, o professor faz bastantes intervalos o que torna as aulas mais soft

Loved the main Professor. He was kind and always ready to help explain things further. I think it is a very accessible course for those who never touched optimization. The project is fun overall but consumes some time. Good foundational content overall. The exam can be quite challenging tho.

thereotical classes are important to go to, and it’s professor is very clear at his teaching, and always reliable for extra help. Not the easiest class, but i found it very interesting and fun do take.

Project is somewhat extensive, if you’re looking for that grade. However, since classes are not mandatory and the lectures follow its past notes you can just follow them at your self-imposed pace.

Expect a lot of theory, but it’s somewhat worth it to understand the foundations of optimization used in ML, control and robotics. The practical homework helps balance out the 'heaviness' of the lectures. Just a heads-up: the exam isn't easy, so make sure you start studying early if you're aiming for a top grade.

Theory heavy but essential course to take if you are into ML or Control. The pace of the lectures is very slow, and there is not much content to cover, but the professor makes some very hard exams (to get a nice grade), you really need to know what you are doing.

I think the best thing about this course is definitely the professor. Don't skip the theoretical classes, just reading the slides without listening to the intuition the professor gives you during the classes is skipping the whole point of the course. The project is okay but the exam is quite hard to have a good grade. You can pass easily but to have a good score on the exam you have to understand deeply the contents of the course.

Nice course on optimization. Project and an exam. The lectures are very good, as well as the slides.

Heavy on theory but you will learn very important concepts. It's a must if you want to pursuit the AI/ML field.
