Good course for those looking to get hands-on with Arduino and gain an introduction to sensors, actuators, and simple electric circuits. The project consists of three lab sessions, with the final goal being a system where multiple Arduinos work together. It requires relatively low effort and offers good grading potential.

The rest of the course covers theoretical topics like low-level operating systems and a bit of smartcard content—somewhat different from what I expected from the course.

Worth noting: this course is expected to be merged with the Ambient Intelligence course in the future,...

Overall, the course is good for those who like the subject of IoT, but it is not very related to anything we have seen in any of the degree courses. The professor is not very good at answering our questions, sometimes seems uninterested in doing so, and did not show much interest in helping when we were doing projects (labs) in practical classes.

The teacher is not very good. When you ask him questions, he makes a dad joke and does not answer the question. In the last class we had to connect our project with the ones from the other groups. We were clearly having trouble and he waited until the last 2 minutes of the 3 hours lab to ask what was wrong and then left. The course overall is somewhat interesting and simple, but be prepared to learn on your own.

The reviews below this point may be outdated. Course content, teaching methods, and requirements may have changed since then.

Good foundation for anyone interested in IoT. It starts with basic circuit concepts, which are later applied using Arduino in three mini-projects:

  • Project 1: focused on actuators;
  • Project 2: focused on sensors;
  • Project 3: focused on making the previous deliveries communicate with each other;

The theoretical classes cover various types of IoT architecture design and system design principles.
