Projeto em Medicina Regenerativa
Descrição
Objectives
The objective of this course is the development of an individual project of interdisciplinary scientific and / or technological nature that fits within the scope of training in Bioengineering and Nanosystems. The specific learning objectives will depend on the specific project, but in general the students should apply, extend and integrate the knowledge previously acquired in the different curricular units of this master. This project could serve as a seed for the master dissertation theme.
Syllabus
The learning topics will depend on the specific project, but they should use concepts and tools from stem cell biology and engineering, cell engineering / synthetic biology, molecular therapy, gene therapy, cell therapies, biomaterials, nanosciences and bioengineering. These topics can be used in different strategies, isolated or in combination, including stem, progenitor or tissue transplantation, stimulation of endogenous repair processes and the use of cells as vehicles for gene expression, including cytokines and other biological molecules, resulting in an advanced training in Regenerative Medicine. In this context, the project should respond to research or innovation challenges and use advanced experimental techniques.
Cross Competence Component
During the development and evaluation of the project students have the opportunity to develop different sets of Transversal Skills. While the specific skills developed will depend on the specific project, the students in general will have opportunity to develop skills related to i) Critical and Innovative Thinking (Creativity, Problem Solving Strategies), ii) Intrapersonnal Skills (auto-discipline, enthusiasm, preserverence, self motivation) and iii) Interpersonal Skills (communication, organization, decision, initiative, oral presentation, writing). The percentage of evaluation associated with these skills should be around 30%.
Laboratorial Component
Depends on the project's topic.
Programming And Computing Component
Depends on the project's topic.
Ethical Principles
All members of a group are responsible for the group’s work In any assessment every student shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used. In an oral assessment, every student shall be alble to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.
