Diagrafias e Avaliação de Formações Geológicas
Descrição
Objectives
This curricular unit provide the student the ability to enumerate and distinguish between the main well-logging method, logging tools and operation principles, enhancing the relationship between the measurements and the subsurface petrophysical properties. Distinguish between the conditions and the applicability limits of the different well-logging tools. Use and apply graphical and analytical methods to compute the composition of subsurface formations and its production potential.
Syllabus
Introduction to open hole well-logging. Physical properties of rocks and fluids. Measurement environment. Well-logging acquistion techniques. Main well-logging tools: spontaneous potential; gamma ray; resistivity; density; neutron; sonic; CBL; NMR; FMI and MDT. Saturation calculaiton and formationa evaluation. All methods are ilustrated with real data in paper and in workstation.
Cross Competence Component
Development of teamwork and communication skills through the oral presentation of works (10% of continuous evaluation).
Laboratorial Component
Development of a project during the period using real data and a commercial software.
Programming And Computing Component
A commercial software for well-log interpretation (e.g. Techlog) will be used during the course (25%).
Ethical Principles
All members of a group are responsible for the group's work. In any assessment, every students shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used. In an oral assessment, every students shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.
