Energia Eólica Offshore

This course is more challenging than regular Wind Energy. There are two professors, one that teaches general Wind Energy and Aerodynamics and the other that teaches Hydrodynamics and Floating Structures. The evaluation consists of two projects, one for each professor's topics, and the exam, covering everything. The lectures are hard sometimes, but the professors are open for doubts and offer help. The materials are very relevant since the exam is open-book. The organization of the projects is a little bad, since this year there was no second assignment and the data was sent to us very late....

A cadeira é semestral e está dividida ao meio em dois grandes tópicos: aerodinâmica (energia eólica) e hidrodinâmica (offshore), sendo abordado um em cada período. A componente de aerodinâmica é lecionada por um professor de Engenharia Aeroespacial e incide sobretudo no funcionamento das turbinas eólicas e na modelação da produção de energia através do método Blade Element Momentum (BEM). A parte offshore é dada por um professor de Engenharia Naval e inicide mais nas plataformas e estabilidade.
