Labs are optional and I didn't go to a single one. Honestly I think it's kind of bad that the teachers just give you a lab guide and basically save themselves more class time but the course was good so I'm not complaining. To me this is the perfect type of course because the exam forces you to actually learn and understand what is going on and what you did in the project (in case you did it, but didn't really do it), and it doesn't ask stupid, way-too-specific questions designed for you to fail. No, it asks fair, important questions that let you freely write and showcase your understanding of...

Teaching
It’s one of those courses you can easily pass without going to classes. The theoretical lectures aren’t very important, I only attended about 10% and still understood everything without much effort. The labs are also a bit lackluster. They’re meant to help with the project and weekly assignments, but honestly, you can skip most of them and still do well.

It was a very good course, going to the theorectical class is very important because the teacher says everything that goes on the exam. The labs aren't necessary, I recomend that you do them before class with you partner (groups of 2 with a great labguide to follow) this way you'll be perfectly prepared for the project and don't need to waste time in class, only if you didn't understand something.

I liked the contents of the course. The evaluation methods are ideal in my opinion. I would like if more exams of previous years were released but understand the teachers' reasoning on why not to do it.

This course is basically an advanced Database Systems class. It covers a lot of stuff, from query optimization to distributed database systems. The course is known to be fairly easy. It's a good option for Distributed Systems students who want a manageable fourth course that still teaches useful skills. I'm taking it this semester, and all the feedback I've heard has been positive.
