Objectives
Students shall be able to: - Understand the difficulties and challenges of the production of each type of polymers at industrial scale. - Know the different strategies for the production of polymers and select them for each case. - Evaluate the suitability of processes for the production of polymers with certain specifications and characteristics. To propose process improvements.
Syllabus
1. Technologies to produce polymers with different types of polymerization reactions. 2. Polymerization processes in solution. 3. High pressure and temperature processes. 4. Copolymer production. 5. Production of reactive polymers and prepolymers. 6. Separation process (solvent separation; monomer recovery). 7. Examples of production processes and equipment. 8. Introduction to the simulation of polymer production processes.

Interpersonal and intrapersonal skills: oral, organizational and teamwork presentation and self-discipline (early preparation of questions, limited deadline and limited question sessions, group work), critical thinking (selection and analysis of alternatives and solutions), ability to locate, access and select information (polymer data will be obtained by students from general access sources). 10 % of evaluation will include soft skills

All members of a group are responsible for the group´s work. In any assessment, every student shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used. In an oral assessment, every student shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.
