Tecnologia de Polímeros
Descrição
Objectives
The main objective is the understanding of the characteristics of polymeric materials and of the associated processing technologies. This course will enable the students to acquire a set of knowledge and competences on different polymer processing technologies. The processes to be delivered range from the conventional ones, like injection moulding, to the more innovative, such as additive manufacturing. A special focus will be given to the numerical simulation of the injection moulding process.
Syllabus
1. Basic nature and properties of different polymers. 2.Viscoelastic behaviour of polymeric materials and rheological models. 3.Relation of the polymeric material properties with key process parameters and process conditions. 4.Polymer processing technologies: Extrusion, Injection Moulding, Blow moulding, Thermoforming and Rotational moulding. 5.Identification and analysis of different processing technologies according to the type of polymer components to produce. 6.Operating principles and process conditions that influence production, quality and microstructure. 7.Application of numerical simulation to injection moulding of polymer parts. 8.Additive manufacturing of polymeric materials. 9.Welding of polymers.
