Descrição

Objectives

The student will be exposed, through examples of control systems in engineering, to the technical limitations of modeling and control versed so far in their studies, which does not include time varying parameters, noise and uncertainty, and acquire complementary skills on modeling and identification of deterministic and stochastic systems, in continuous and discrete time domain. All these studies will use MATLAB / Simulink tools and laboratory experiments.

Syllabus

Analysis of control systems in engineering: noise and uncertainty, limitations and performance degradation; time varying continuous and discrete models, necessity to identify. Modelling and identification of deterministic systems: model uncertainty, identification in time (deconvolution method) and frequency domains (Bode and Levy methods), identification in closed loop. Stochastic signals: characterization of noise and stochastic signals in time (correlation method) and frequency domains, stationarity and ergodicity of stochastic processes, correlation functions and covariance, spectrum, estimation. Modeling and identification of stochastic systems: modeling and analysis, filtering, simulation and prediction, identification in the time (ARMAX and BJ models) and frequency domains, least squares and recursive least squares estimation; closed-loop identification; minimum variance control.

Prerequisites

Approval in Control Systems or equivalent course.
