Ciências Sociais Marinha

To deepen, in a plural way, the knowledge of marine social sciences:

• Study multidisciplinary concepts based on social sciences in the analysis of marine issues;
• Explore theoretical and methodological perspectives based on the constitution of marine social sciences;
• Understand evolutionary trends in marine socio-ecological systems and services.

To exercise the existing praxis within and between diverse marine communities:

• Encourage a critical historical, positional and relational reflection on the evolution and importance of integrating human dimensions for active, collective and collaborative participation in decision-making based on plural evidence such as: marine conservation, marine spatial planning, fisheries management, the blue economy and climate adaptation.

To study the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a complex-systemic vision, especially the relationship between 11, 14 and 15, to integrate the knowledge of this UC into a proactive political discourse.
