At the end of this Curricular Unit, students should be able to:

• Formulate clear research questions related to statistics applied to health;

• Formulate clear general and specific objectives and the hypotheses that allow answering the research question

• Identify the most relevant statistical methodologies and specify the corresponding statistical model

• Describe the strategy used for data collection, namely the sampling method and the calculation of the sample size, applicable

• Apply statistical methods using a real-life database and statistical software appropriate to the type of data

• Critically analyse the results of the statistical analysis

• Elaborate a scientific work in the area of statistics applied to health

• Reflect on the ethical issues underlying data collection
