Descrição
At the end of the curricular unit students should be able to:
LO1. Understand the frequency theory as a practical tool for calculating probabilities
LO2. Calculate probabilities by classical and axiomatic definitions, including conditional probabilities LO3. Describe and verify event dependency/independence
LO4. Describe a random variable (r.v.), understand probability models and their parameters
LO5. Calculate simple probabilities and characterize the distribution function of discrete and continuous r.v. LO6. Characterize the Binomial, Poisson and Normal and Multivariate Normal distributions, and calculate probabilities of these models LO7. Explain the use of the Normal distribution as an approximation to the Binomial
Each of the 3 learning units (LU) includes an e-book and exposition videos with examples, complemented by solved exercises. At the end of each LU, review exercises are proposed (asynchronous self-assessment), and a synchronous session to clarify doubts.
