At the end of this UC, knowledge, skills and competences will be acquired that
will allow to: - Understand the fundamental concepts of cellular and
molecular bioenergetics - Understand the energy transduction mechanisms and
processes involved in electron transfer - Be able to perform basic
bioenergetic calculations (free energy, redox potentials…) - Understand the
fundamentals of human physiology and its relationship with metabolic
regulation - Understand metabolic diversity at the microbial level and its
impact on health and the environment - Understand the role of the microbiota
in the metabolism of nutrients and drugs - Know the impact of nutrition on
metabolic processes and health - Understand the relationship between
metabolic processes and physical exercise - Understand the metabolic
processes involved in diabetes and obesity - Understand the relationship
between metabolism and cancer - Have a global view of the importance of
bioenergetic metabolism and its involvement in health and disease
