Diagnóstico e Conservação de Materiais Modernos e Arte Contemporânea

At the end of this course, the student will have acquired knowledge, skills and competences that allow him to:

• Act in the preservation of objects made of modern materials (plastics, foams and rubbers) and in the safeguard of contemporary art (installations, time-based media, performances and/or others);
• Know and identify the differences between modern materials and their main pathologies, as well as to propose preventive measures accordingly;
• Select and apply the necessary tools for a diagnosis;
• Know and identify the main problems related to the preservation of contemporary art through the development of a risk assessment of a case study;
• Develop observation skills, critical thinking and skills related to the production of professional documentation;
• Recognize the importance of research and updated knowledge;
• Work as a team and communicate his/her work in both written and oral form
