Planeamento e Controlo na Construção

Objectives

To provide students the fundamental knowledge concerning planning time and resources and control the cost-time tradeoff during the execution of construction projects.

Syllabus

Construction time planning (goals, models, graphical representation; steps and techniques for scheduling projects; critical path method); Resource planning (basic resources categories in construction operations; identification, estimation, allocation and optimization of resources in construction projects); Time-cost tradeoff and financial viability of alternative solutions; Deviations control in construction projects (progress measurement and deviations categorization: time, resources, costs).

Construction Management and Organization I or II courses

Cross Competence Component

The CU allows the development of transversal competences on Critical Thinking, namely strategic thinking and problem solving approaches, within the assignments, flash and paper presentations, and miniproject; Interpersonal and Intrapersonal Skills (oral, organizational and teamwork, self-discipline, perseverance, self-motivation skills - within the assignments, flash and paper presentations, and group assignment); and Information and Media Literacy (ability to locate and access information, as well as to analyze and evaluate media content - within the assignments, flash and paper presentations, and group assignment). The assessment percentage associated with these competences should be around 10%.

Ethical Principles

All members of a group are responsible for the group's work. In any assessment, every students shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used. In an oral assessment, every students shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.
