Objectives

A – An overview of fee-for-service (FFS) reimbursement of the healthcare providers. Developing models to describe basic clinical indicators such as mortality, length of stay, readmissions. B – Changing from the FFS to the value-based healthcare reimbursement model. Patient-Centred Care. Understanding the reasoning behind Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) and Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs) C – Measuring and analysing patients’ outcome and experience data: the role of the health questionnaires. Aquire competence in judging the effectiveness of a health questionnaire. D – Ability to analyse datasets from health surveys. Skills in exploring business solutions to overcome the main problems identified by analysing health surveys

Syllabus

1 – FFS reimbursement: an overview. Analysing the most important regression models to describe the indicators that translate the quantity of service delivered by the providers 2 – Value-based healthcare reimbursement model: a new paradigm where the patient is the centre of the healthcare system. The crucial role of the health questionnaires 3 – Health questionnaires to describe the different dimensions of Health-Related Quality of Life (HR-QoL) and Well- Being. Analysing the most common health questionnaires as, for instance, SF-36, EQ-5D, WHO-5. 4 – Analysing standard sets obtained from health questionnaires to measure patient preferences. The example of ICHOM. 5 – Statistical analysis of health questionnaires. Special emphasis is given to the non-parametric analysis due to the ordinal nature of most of the measurement scales 6 – Exploring business solutions (with emphasis to medical devices) based on the results from health questionnaires.
