Ciências de Engenharia Química (Ceq)
Descrição
Objectives
At the end of this curricular unit, students should: Understand the basic concepts and principles of thermodynamics and transfer phenomena (heat, mass and momentum) in a qualitative and quantitative way. Identify how energy and matter move and transform in everyday systems and relate these processes to the laws of thermodynamics and transport mechanisms. Read and interpret basic diagrams, graphs and conceptual models representing thermodynamic and transport processes, carrying out introductory calculations on applied situations. Recognize the relevance of thermodynamics and transfer phenomena to different scientific areas, including their historical evolution. Stimulate critical thinking regarding the thermodynamic and transport processes that underlie many natural and technological systems, promoting informed decision- making.
