Computação Inteligente para a Internet das Coisas
Descrição
Objectives
To teach the different computational techniques associated with the area of Computational Intelligence (Neural Networks, Evolutionary Computation, Swarm Intelligence, Fuzzy Sets, Hybrid Systems) while focusing on their application to solving complex problems commonly found when developing Internet of Things systems.
Syllabus
1. Introduction to the Internet of Things – IoT 2. What is "Computational Intelligence" 3. Data in the IoT 4. Typical classes of IoT problems involving data 5. Fundamentals for approaching problems involving data 6. Clustering 7. Introduction to Neural Networks (NN) 8. Introduction Evolutionary Algorithms (EA) 9. Introduction to Swarm Intelligence (SI) 10. Inttroduction to Fuzzy Sets and Systems 11. Introduction to Hybrid Systems 12. CI applications for IoT systems
Prerequisites
Previous attendance of courses on Computer Networks and the Internet; programming skills (preferably Python).
Cross Competence Component
The UC encompasses the development of transversal competences on Critical and Innovative Thinking, Interpersonal and Intrapersonal Skills (oral, organizational and teamwork, self-discipline, perseverance, self-motivation skills) and Information and Media Literacy (ability to locate and access information, as well as to analyze and evaluate media content) within the lab assignments and project. The assessment percentage associated with these competences should be around 20%.
Laboratorial Component
This section refers to both the laboratory and the project components. The laboratory component will encompass the resolution of exercises and the execution of small assignments that the address the acquisition of specific knowledge necessary to the final project. The evaluation will be done within the class and have a functional focus. This component will take place during the first weeks of the quarter. The project will be based on the knowledge acquired during the previous weeks, and will consist in addressing a problem related with the Internet of Things. The evaluation of the project will be based on a written report, an oral defense and a funcional demonstration of the project.
Programming And Computing Component
The execution of the laboratory and project components is based on code programming.
Ethical Principles
All members of a group are responsible for the group’s work In any assessment, every student shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used. In an oral assessment, every student shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.
