Gestão e Avaliação de Projetos
Descrição
Objectives
O1 – Provide students with a solid understanding of methods and tools for operations management in engineering systems, while fostering competencies in sustainable project management. O2 – Foster in students both familiarity with and a critical understanding of methodologies for structuring and modeling decision-making processes, preference modeling, and decision-making under uncertainty and risk, together with the respective support instruments, integrating economic, social, and environmental dimensions. O3 – Equip students with the ability to assess projects and actions against multiple objectives and criteria, adopting a cost–benefit perspective, thereby contributing to more sustainable development.
Syllabus
Modules of the curricular unit Project Management and Evaluation (PME): M1–Project Management: Project planning using the critical path method; Cost analyses and economic–financial evaluation; Resource planning; Monitoring and control; Uncertainty: the PERT method; Risk assessment and management. M2–Decision-making Process Modeling: Uncertainty and risk; Utility, preference modeling, and risk attitude; Decision trees; Value of information; Multi- criteria decision-making. This module promotes a critical analysis of decision-making, highlighting the integration of economic, social, and environmental dimensions into decision-making models. M3–Cost–Benefit Analysis: Methodological principles; Estimation of costs and benefits; Evaluation indicators/criteria; Sensitivity and risk analyses. The module aims to foster in students an approach to project evaluation that integrates, beyond the economic dimension, both social and environmental impacts.
Cross Competence Component
The UC, in the group works assignments and in the approaches to problem solving in the mini-tests and final exam, allows the development of transversal competences in Critical Thinking (strategic thinking, critical thinking, creativity and problem solving approaches), Intrapersonal Skills (productivity and time management, stress management, proactivity and initiative) and Information and Media Literacy (use of software tools from the user's perspective, structuring and formatting of documents). The assessment percentage associated with these skills should be around 10%.
Ethical Principles
All members of a group are responsible for the group's work. In any assessment, every student shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used. In an oral assessment, every student shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.
