Bachelor's in Electrical and Computer Engineering

  • 3 years · 6 semesters
  • 180 ECTS

The Bachelor's in Electrical and Computer Engineering is a 3-year first-cycle degree (6 semesters, 180 ECTS) at the Porto School of Engineering (ISEP). It runs in daytime hours and also in an after-work schedule, which depends on a minimum number of enrolments.

The degree deals with equipment and systems that process information, communicate and interact with people and the environment, from the basic sciences to electrical engineering, electronics, network technologies, automation and digital systems, with a strong practical component. The plan includes Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering, Circuit Theory, Electronics, Digital Systems, Electromagnetism, Microprocessors and Microcontrollers, Signals and Systems, Systems Theory, Electrical Machines, Computing Systems, Telecommunications, Data Communication, Power Electronics and Energy Systems and Renewable Energy. In the final semester, students do a project or internship, in companies or research groups, and choose an elective in fields such as IoT Cybersecurity, Digital Control, Applied Artificial Intelligence or Multimedia Systems.

Graduates work in automation and telecommunications, software development, managing projects in electrical engineering, mechatronics, telecommunications, systems integration and intelligent and autonomous systems, and developing processes linked to computers, robots, radar, navigation systems, satellite communications and electronic systems. At ISEP, they can apply to the Master's in Electrical and Computer Engineering and in Electrical Engineering - Electrical Power Systems.
