Description

Objectives

Generic knowledge of the subjects covered in the course, such as technologies, methods, archaeological and historical materials, archeology, history and art history, technological evolution from prehistory to the present day, museums and their role in the promotion of culture, education and society, socioeconomic value to a sustainable development, knowledge transfer, mobile and immovable heritage, decision support. Contact with experiences and professional practices. Development of literacy in the communication and in the subjects in question, in a science context, technologies and Cultural Heritage. Structuring of written and oral communication in Portuguese and English. Case study analysis and seminars given by invited speakers. With this course is intend also to complement topics not covered by the curriculum, through seminars for which experts from private companies, museums and academia of various areas are invited.

Syllabus

The program contents essentially involve a study of theory and technologies in the field of archaeometry applied to archaeology, history and art history, museology, through a comparative and contextual analysis in the different domains, using various case studies and the presentation of seminars in the thematic areas. Debates on seminar/ themes with the invited researchers/ curators, stakeholders.

1 - Critical and innovative thinking (Problem solving strategies, Strategic thinking, Critical thinking, Creativity) 2 - Interpersonal skills (written communication and information literacy in the structuring of documents): The preparation of reports and seminars and their oral presentation will stimulate the oral and written communication. 3 - Intrapersonal skills (intrinsic motivation, productivity and time management): Students' enthusiasm and self- motivation will be considered; delivering reports on time promotes self- discipline and personal organization. 4 - Global citizenship (Ethics, professional ethics): openness and tolerant conduct among colleagues, understanding of cultural value codes and global interconnections.

Programming And Computing Component

Programming and Computing Component: The computing component will be the use of software programs such as Word and Powerpoint (or other) for the preparation of monography/report and oral presentation.

Ethical Principles

All members of a group are responsible for the group's work. In any assessment, every student shall honestly disclose and help received and sources used. In any oral assessment, every student shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.
