Modelação de Informação de Edifícios Históricos
Description
Objectives
The curricular unit aims the introdution to the study, representation and documentation of architectural heritage through digital technologies. It is intended to acquire concepts and skills regarding the understanding of the potential of BIM technology, and its problematic, applied to the specific scope of architectural heritage in its various aspects (e.g. management of historical documentation, construction, management and maintenance) through the creation of information models, developed from point clouds - 3D geometric data with millimeter accuracy - essential for recording of the formal authenticity of these models. It is intended to reflect on the application of rapid prototyping technologies in the development of physical models that allow the narration of the cultural values intrinsic to historic buildings and sites.
Syllabus
The program covers three main topics: 1. Automatic 3D non-contact surveys (laser scanning and photogrammetry); 2. BIM modeling based on point clouds; 3. Creation of physical models using rapid prototyping technologies.)
Prerequisites
Students must have prior knowledge of BIM modeling environments.
Cross Competence Component
The transversal competences to be developed are the following: Critical thinking 25% (critical thinking: 10%; creativity: 5%; problem solving capacity: 10%). Interpersonal competence 10% (oral communication: 5%; teamwork: 5%). Intrapersonal competence 15% (spirit of initiative: 5%; personal motivation: 5%; decision making: 5%). Global citizenship 20% (ethics: 10%; professional ethics: 10%). Information and media literacy 30% (use of computer tools from the user's perspective: 10%; search and information management: 10%; structuring and formatting of documents: 10%). The transversal competence component contributes 30% to the global assessment of the UC.
Laboratorial Component
The introduction to basic concepts, working methodologies and tools, essentials to the development of the exercises, will be covered in a laboratory environment in line with the markedly experimental vocation of AHBIM.
Programming And Computing Component
Concepts and methods will be discussed in the scope of visual programming applied to the development of heritage objects from point clouds, preferably, using the BIM modeling environment Autodesk Revit and the programming language Dynamo.
Ethical Principles
All members of a group are responsible for the group's work. In any assessment, every students shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used. In an oral assessment, every students shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.
