Objectives

This course aims to provide students with knowledge in the area of network architectures, communication protocols and associated systems, understanding and discussing the multiple layers of abstraction of communication systems and the main protocols of each layer, as well as understanding the technology underlying cloud computing models. Discussion of local and wide area network requirements and technical knowledge to assess network security and application challenges; standard communication protocols between the associated systems, both local (LAN) and wide (WAN), discussing the respective network technologies. Also, in a laboratory environment, using a network operating system, students will work on TCP/IP architecture and Internet protocols, concepts and associated applications.
