Estatística Biomédica
Description
Objectives
Study three topics of Statistics with important biomedical applications: Generalized Linear Models, Survival Analysis and Design and Analysis of Clinical Trials.
Syllabus
1. Generalized Linear Models: General features and statistical analysis. Logistic regression, Poisson regression and Log-linear models as special cases. Extensions. 2. Survival Analysis: Failure models and types of censoring. Inference in parametric models. Comparing survival curves. Cox proportional hazards model. Accelerated failure time models. Goodness-of-fit tests. Spatial survival. 3. Clinical Trials: Generalities. Problems on conducting clinical trials. Types of experimental designs. Statistical methods. Mantel-Haenszel procedures. Crossover clinical trials.
Cross Competence Component
The UC allows the development of transversal competences on Critical Thinking, Creativity and Problem Solving Strategies, in class, in autonomous work and in the several evaluation components. The percentage of the final grade associated with these competences should be around 15%.
Ethical Principles
All members of a group are responsible for the group’s work. In any assessment, every student shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used. In an oral assessment, every student shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.
