Objectives
With this UC the student will have the skills to use and implement the main models and technologies of mining planning in the short, medium and long term, in underground mines and open pit mines.
Syllabus
Introduction to Mining Planning; Short, medium and long term planning; Economic concepts: Market, Net Revenue, Gross Revenue, Net Smelter Revenue; Cut off grades, Resources and Reserves; Transfer Functions; Information and support effect on transfer functions; Short Term Mining Planning; Design of stopes; Mining Recovery and Mining Dilution. Mining reconciliation; Stopes sequence and optimization methods; Medium and Long Term Mining Planning; Optimization methods. Linear and Integer Programming. Open Pit Mining Planning; Open pit optimization methods: Algorithms for Moving Cones and Lerchs and Grossman; New Trends in Mining Planning. Stochastic simulation models of resources and reserves in mining planning. Real Time Mining. Internet of Things. Automation and Control.
Prerequisites
Optimization and simulation, geostatisctics, mineral economics
Cross Competence Component
Develop teamwork and communication skills through oral presentation (10%).
Laboratorial Component
Development of a project throughout the academic weeks assisted by commercial software (e.g. Promine, Deswik).
Programming And Computing Component
Application and implementation of mining planning tools in industrial software: Deswick, Promine.
