Description

Objectives

Develop autonomous work in a technological environment in the development of a project that can be - the simulation of radiation interaction with matter for a given technological or R&D application using Geant4 based simulation tools; - based on the development of integrated data acquisition and processing detection systems for scientific applications and technological development in various areas such as environment, health, space and new materials.

Syllabus

Development of radiation interaction simulations with matter based on Geant4 for Particle and Nuclear Physics application and for Biomedical and Space Applications. Development of instrumentation applications for Particle Physics and Nuclear Physics experiments and in the area of radiation applications and measurement.

Prerequisites

To achieve the expected learning objectives, students must have prior knowledge of Particle Physics or Nuclear Physics or Radiation Physics or Instrumentation for Nuclear and Particle Physics.

Cross Competence Component

80% - Critical and innovative thought 20% among intrapersonnal Competence, interpersonnal Competence and Information Literacy.

Laboratorial Component

The work developed in this UC may consist in the development of acquisition and instrumentation systems in a laboratory environment.

Programming And Computing Component

The work developed in this UC may consist in the development of a simulation project using the Geant4 simulation tool for the simulation of detectors and applications of nuclear and particle physics technologies
