Introdução à Mecânica dos Sólidos
Description
At the end of this course, the student will have acquired knowledge, scientific skills that allow him to:
• Establish the static equilibrium equations of rigid bodies, at 2 and 3 dimensions and build the free body diagram.
• Determine: the Centroid and Mass Center of lines an areas, the 2nd order moments of an area and the internal forces in different members of a structure.
• Understand and apply: the concept of normal and shear stress, the stress- strin relationship in a uniaxial tensile test. Hooke's Law and the Poisson Coefficient (in the elastic stage of materials).
• Understand: the differences of elastic and plastic behaviour of materials, the effect of stress concentration.
• Understand and determine: the diagrams of shafts subjected to a torque, the distribution of stresses/strains in a shaft when subjectes to torque, the diagrams of the shear forces and the bending moment in beams, the distribution of stresse/strains in beams when subjected to bending.
