Materiais Cerâmicos e Pétreos em Património
Description
The curricular unit intends to train students of the Degree in Conservation and Restoration with the necessary knowledge for a comprehensive view of the various aspects between structure, properties, processing and analysis of ceramic, vitreous and petreous materials (including mortars), and their raw materials, in the context of cultural heritage. It is intended that they identify and interpret crystalline structures of the most common compounds from the different classes of materials, as well as understand the processes and physical and chemical properties of the materials as a function of their structure as well as identify the local structure of network formers and modifiers in vitreous materials (amorphous materials and chromophore elements). It is intended that the students are able to equate the use of appropriate characterization techniques for each type of materials (using and programming experimental protocols) and address the use of nanotechnologies in cultural heritage.
