Description

The course aims to provide students with a solid foundation in biochemistry, with an emphasis on metabolic processes and their regulatory mechanisms. Through the study of clinical cases of metabolic diseases, students will be able to understand the relevance of biochemistry to the health field.

Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to:

  • Deepen their knowledge by researching books and scientific articles.
  • Develop oral and written communication skills through presentations and writing a scientific report.
  • Work in groups to solve problems and analyze experimental data.
  • Integrate theoretical and practical knowledge through laboratory activities.

The practical activities of the course include:

  • The presentation of cases of metabolic diseases in the seminar class, promoting discussion and debate among students.
  • Laboratory activities that will allow the application of the theoretical knowledge acquired, the improvement of experimental execution (including the use of equipment) and data analysis.
  • The preparation of a scientific report on one of the laboratory assignments in order to understand how to organize and present experimental data in a clear and concise manner, using appropriate scientific language and encouraging critical and integrated analysis of the results obtained and comparison with the literature.
