Estruturas de Alvenaria e Madeira
Description
Objectives
The course is intended to provide expertise in the field of masonry (reinforced and unreinforced) and timber structures, in particular with regard to their structural design and safety assessment. The course is focused on new constructions, although with references to old buildings structures (which require a specific approach). In order to achieve the purpose of the course, several themes are addressed, namely, the materials mechanical characterization, the analysis of building components (walls, beams and columns) and the overall structural analysis of buildings. Requirements and details needed to ensure an adequate structural behavior are also part of the course. Structural analysis and design and the construction details will follow, when existing, the requirements of Eurocodes 5 and 6.
