Applied Corporate Finance

Very good course for anyone who wants to do banking or deal advisory. Covers topics like M&A, IPOs, capital structure, distress, project finance. Every topic is taught with theory first and then a case study application. But be prepared for a lot of heavy theory. You have to deliver 4 cases through the semester which are each demanding, and the grades are not great. Worth it though.

The course with Rui Silva gives worse grades on assignments and has a harder exam when compared to the other professor(S2).

Good course but very theory based

Heavy workload but interesting module in my opinion. Choose who you have in your group wisely as it involves many team elements.

Workload was quite high (5 assignments + 1 presentation), but the course covers a lot of important and interesting topics. There are also quite a few case studies in the course which cover some concepts that are also relevant for the exam. The grading for the assignments was fair and the exam grades were also good. The exam was devided into 4 parts: MCQ, 4 theoretical questions (e.g. difference between public and private listing, explain goodwill and provide the formula, pecking order theory), calculations and a mini case study.
