Processamento Digital de Sinais
Description
Objectives
The main goal of this CU is to provide the students with the fundamental concepts and tools for discrete-time digital signal processing. This CU has a strong practical component, presenting examples to illustrate the theoretical concepts and their application to real situations.
Syllabus
1. Discrete signals and systems: elementary signals, LTI systems, convolution sum, properties. 2. Fourier transform and Sampling. 3. Z transform: properties, inverse transform, transfer function, analysis of LTI systems 4. Discrete Fourier transform: definition, signal analysis, properties, filtering. 5. Random signals. 6. Parameter estimation: Least squares method, Maximum likelihood method, Bayesian inference
Prerequisites
Calculus with complex numbers, Fourier transform of continuous-time signals, basic Programming with Matlab
Cross Competence Component
The Lab works stimulates the ability to work in groups, and stimulates oral communication (oral presentation), as well as written communication (report).
Laboratorial Component
Laboratory component comprises three lab works, to be done in groups of two students, and a synthesis report. The lab grade involves the interaction of each student with the professor and the report grade.
Ethical Principles
All members of a group are responsible for the group’s work In any assessment, every student shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used. In an oral assessment, every student shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution
