Planeamento de Operações em Sistemas de Transportes
Description
Objectives
To acquire knowledge about the planning and management of transportation services, taking into account modal specificities, covering from the strategic planning of investments and services (long term) to the operational level of transport planning and operation (short term). To acquire skills in the use of tools to support the planning and management of transportation systems.
Syllabus
Introduction to the problematics of operations planning in transportation systems, for each level of planning, depending on the mode and the market segment. Influence and technological constraints of infrastructure and vehicles. Interfaces and constraints in an urban environment. Strategic planning: demand, service planning, decision models. Operational planning: formulation, operational modeling, scheduling and resources. Simulation and decision support models and tools. Capacity allocation and pricing of infrastructure and services. Traffic and capacity management.
Prerequisites
Mandatory for the program.
Cross Competence Component
Due to evaluation structure (50% within group practical works) it is believed that the course contributes to development of personal and with others relationships competences, promoting the criticism and diferenciated approaches about the necessary analysis of the subjects, and demanding the search of alternatives not previously discussed.
Programming And Computing Component
Students when doing the practical works are exposed to the use of software available to approaches analysis and eventual design of alternatives.
