Projeto de Instrumentação Médica (Fcul)
Description
Objectives
The Medical Instrumentation Project has the following main objectives: A - Provide a learning environment motivated by problem solving in a "learn-by- doing" and "do-it-yourself" approach, making use of new trends in engineering and product development; B - Develop a software/hardware prototype related to innovative areas in Biomedical Engineering/Medical Physics C - Develop social skills of accountability, teamwork and leadership; D - Enhance creativity and value the scientific and technological capital of students in the field of Biomedical Engineering Biomedical, Biophysics and Medical Physics
Syllabus
In the context of a laboratory class, the new (or revisited) trends in engineering and prototype/product development, including: - DIY: Do-It- Yourself - 4R: Reduce-Reuse-Recycle-Reinvent - Bootstrapping - Biomimicry - Open source (software/hardware, ex Arduino) - New (or revisited) manufacturing methods (eg 3D printing/Computer Numerical Control) - Consumer electronics (eg associated with gaming/entertainment) - Functional and aesthetic design principles and ergonomics In addition, innovations in specific areas of biomedical engineering will be addressed: medical robotics, wearables and person-machine interfaces.
