Sistemas Espaciais
Description
Objectives
This course unit aims to provide an understanding of the functioning of the main systems that make up a spacecraft, namely the thermal, electrical, structural, propulsion, and attitude and orbit control systems. Additionally, planetary re-entry conditions and space mechanical devices will also be addressed.
Syllabus
1. Introduction – Historical context, configuration, and dynamics of a spacecraft. 2. Thermal System – Thermal environment, thermal management and control. 3. Electrical System – Primary and secondary power sources and their management. 4. Structural System – Material selection, structural dynamics, analysis and verification. 5. AOCS (Attitude and Orbit Control System) – Overview of AOCS, sensors and actuators, motion stabilization. 6. Mechanical Devices – Antennas, solar panels, telescopic booms, robotic arm. 7. Planetary Re-entry – General characteristics.
Cross Competence Component
Critical and innovative thinking (100%), Intrapersonal competences (100%)
Ethical Principles
All members of a group are responsible for the group's work. In any assessment, every student shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used. In an oral assessment, every student shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.
