Objectives
The student will be able to understand the aerodynamics of the helicopter as well as been able to compute the forces in any flight condition (hover, axial flight, forward flight).
Syllabus
History of the helicopter development. Aerodynamics of the rotor in hover. Momentum theory, Blade element Theory, Combined blade element momentum thoery. Aerodynamic of the rotor in axial and forward flight. Vortex Theory. Blade Dynamics. Helicopter performance. Basic helicopter design.
